William (Bill) Sebastian passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2001 in Fresno, CA. He was 85. Bill was a member of the Rotary Club of Kerman for over 45 years, and was widely known in Rotary circles. His quick wit and dry humor made for many fun meetings. He will be remembered as a Rotarian who truly lived by the motto, "Service Above Self."

Bill was a charter member of the Kerman Rotary Club. His active involvement in the early days of the club helped to shape its long-term success. Kerman Rotary has been an active force in the small community of Kerman, California since its original charter in 1956.

As owner and general manager of the Kerman Telephone Company, Bill brought a unique perspective and leadership to Kerman Rotary. He was truly a pioneer in business and in Rotary. His "anything is possible" spirit contributed to many local and international accomplishments by Kerman Rotary over the decades. He served the club in a variety of jobs during his 45 years of membership, including a term as Club President. One of his most notable accomplishments was the creation of the William G. Sebastian Rotary Scholarship. This endowment generates a scholarship in the amount of $1,500 awarded each year by Kerman Rotary to a deserving high school graduate.
